Grapefruit League Baseball

Yesterday Mr. Beachy and I went to Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota to catch a Spring Training game. The Cincinnati Reds played the New York Yankees. It was HOT, but we had a great time. I lasted until the beginning of the 7th inning and by then, I knew forgetting sunscreen was now a problem. :) We headed home, stopping for a quick glass of wine (or two). When we got home around 5:30 we headed straight for the pool to cool off.

Our seats were great!

Yankees manager Joe Girardi. He's from Peoria, IL which is really close to my hometown! I could almost reach out and touch him!

This is famous basketball announcer Dick Vitale (posing with some kid). He lives in the area and is frequently seen around town. He is so kind and patient to people wanting autographs and photos. "Awesome, baby!"

Yesterday was the second to last game the Reds will play in Sarasota. We hope another major league team decides to come to the area since one of the major reasons Mr. Beachy was so excited to be here was Grapefruit League baseball. We'll miss the Reds!
