Turkey Day 2008

I love Thanksgiving, probably for a different reason than most. Our Thanksgiving is almost always spent just the two of us although some years we've also participated in Meals on Wheels. It's so nice to enjoy the day cooking, seeing movies, and this year we can even take a walk on the beach. We spend Thanksgiving alone because the very next month is Christmas and that's when we'll be flying home to the COLD midwest crossing our fingers it doesn't snow or ice us into spending the night at the airport.

We usually cook OUR Thanksgiving favorites and always include turkey, dressing, corn, pototoes and gravy, and green bean casserole. Don't forget the canned cranberry sauce and pumpkin or pecan pie. Sounds like an awful lot for two now that I typed it out! We usually are eating leftovers for two weeks.
What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving? Is it a recipe/dish, seeing relatives, or even the booze & football?
Also, if you have a favorite recipe that you think might go with a more coastal/southern Turkey Day that you could share I'd love to try it out!
Thanks girls!

Sounds like a nice relaxing Thanksgiving! Being from OK, I don't have any beachy suggestions. Not sure if you have ever visited thepioneerwoman.com but she has amazing recipes. I tried her whiskey glazed carrots a few weeks ago and they were amazing! They would be perfect for Thanksgiving!

Besides family time I *love* ocean spray cranberry sauce...the one that retains the shape of the can...drooling just thinking about it.

That and my homemade dressing, which is actually from kittencal at recipezaar. It is devine.

not dressing, gravy. I'm sorry, I've got cranberry sauce cubes bouncing in my head.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! My favorite part is definitely not the booze & football :)

Last year I baked my first pie, so that would have to be it. Really looking forward to baking another pie. I actually just picked up some pie crust cutters at Williams Sonoma.

I actually cooked for just my husband (finace at the time) last year for Thanksgiving and I loved it!! No stress, well maybe a little stress because it was the first time I'd ever cooked a turkey and I kept hearing horror stories and imagining a Clark Griswold Christmas vacation type of turkey coming out of the oven! ; ) But it was really good and I enjoyed not traveling and it being just the two of us!

So I don't have any personal recipes to share but I do have a link.....check out coastal livings website! They always have great beachy inspired recipes and this link below is for seafood inspired stuffings!!! YUMMY!!
