Casey's Taco Pizza

My favorite pizza ever is made by a convenience store chain in the midwest called Casey's. It is seriously the best ever. (My second favorite comes from Happy Joe's - a midwestern pizza chain). For whatever reason, Taco Pizza is really hard to come by in New Orleans.

Boboli crust
Refried beans (about a can)
Salsa
Taco beef
Shredded mozarella
Shredded cheddar
Lettuce, chopped
Tomatoes, chopped
Black olives (optional)
Doritos (lightly crushed) - one of those smaller packages should be fine, like the Big Grab size
Sour cream & taco sauce for adding later

Preheat oven according to Boboli package directions.

Make your taco meat. I usually buy a package of taco seasoning and a pound of beef and make according to package directions. On your Boboli crust, spread on your refried beans, then salsa (don't go overboard - your crust will be soggy), then taco beef. Add both cheeses. I didn't include measurements so just eyeball your toppings. Bake according to Boboli directions.

When finished baking and cheese is melted add lettuce, then tomatoes, olives (optional), then Doritos. Add sour cream and/or taco sauce to your slice as desired. O. M. G. It is CRAZY good!

My fiance is from Iowa, and introduced me to Happy Joe's Pizza. I LOVE their taco pizza...so great. We're going to Iowa in three weeks and that is on my list of places to eat that weekend! And Caseys...seriously the best pizza that can be bought at a gas station ever!
I'll trade you some good southern food for a Happy Joe's Pizza!

I grew up in Iowa, and I think Casey's pizza is the best. I brought my wife to Iowa for Christmas. She's from the East Coast and had never had Casey's pizza, so I didn't know if she'd be high on eating convenience store pizza. But she had a slice anyway, and now she's hooked on it.

the first thing we did when we got back home was look up where Casey's stores are located. To our huge disappointment, there aren't any Casey's anywhere near Virginia.

p.s. Happy Joe's rules, too. When I played football in high school, our whole team would eat at the Happy Joe's buffet on the nights before games. It was the highlight of my week.

I grew up in the Quad Cities area and I miss Happy Joes and Caseys so much! There is no where in NC that has taco pizza. I can't wait to go back to visit my family so I can have some Happy Joes! :-)

Thank you for the recipe! I grew up in Iowa and I am always telling my husband who is from Texas, about Casey's taco pizza. We now live in Tucson, as well as my sister's family and parents. My sis, Mom and I were talking about how much we miss Casey's taco pizza - my sister went home and googled and found your blog with the recipe. Thank you! Thank you!

Hi. I tried to email you from your email me on your main page. But it doesn't appear to be working. Anyway Im born and bread in Iowa, Bedford Iowa, on my fathers farm, and all I have never known is Caseys. There pizza is by FAR the best pizza anywhere. There taco yes, but also there beef, supreme, pepperoni, ALL if it is the best ever.

I am from Iowa and have lived in the small towns there, as well as the bigger ones, and if there was a choice, I would call the gas station to get a pizza. There is no contest between them and everyone else, and it is just as good the next day as cold pizza. I live in Mississippi and I missed it so much I am trying to google-up a former employee to get their cheese and pepperoni and beef suppliers. My favorite is straight up pepperoni and cheese, no parmesean needed. The only other place that is better,(sorry casey's) is great plains pizza in Ames Iowa, that sell y the slice during lunch. I would buy like 6 peices at lunch and eat all day. Thanks for the memories.

Im from Northern IL and love Casey's taco and bbq pizzas as well as Happy Joes bbq pizza. I dont recall my local store putting meat and salsa on the pizza, I was thinking they just did beans then cheese and the other toppings. However, this still looks great to try. Thank you!

Jenee Blackert- Not that it matters, but I used to work for a gas station before Caseys bought it out, so I know their recipes well. The posted recipe is as close to the real one that we will get as consumers. They don't use ground beef cooked with taco seasoning like we do at home. They use larger chunks of beef that are pre- seasoned, packaged, and frozen before use. As consumers, we don't have regular access to such things, so ground beef with the taco seasoning is as close as we will get. And, there is, indeed a layer of refried beans followed by a thin layer of salsa on each!

I know this is an old blog but I was describing this taco pizza to a friend. I used to work at a casey general store back in 88-89 and made tons of these. Still the best pizza.

I'm from Wisconsin and now live in Tampa. Nobody sells or even knows what a taco pizza is! So after telling my boyfriend and Florida family about it I decided to make one when I came across this recipe. (had a good laugh at all the comments) I love Caseys Pizza!! I was skeptical about the taste but this was a GREAT recipe! Everyone loved it!

All of us mid westerners should get together and bring good pizza(breakfast and Taco) to the south!

Try to find a Pizza Inn. Not as good as caseys or happy joes but it'll suffice till I get back to Iowa
