Resort Town Life

I live in a resort town. Snowbird-ville. Wrinkle City.

When we moved here in June it was amazing. Carefree, hot summer days, warm summer nights, nearly empty beaches, no waiting for a table at your favorite restaurant and a 5 minute commute to work.

I obviously didn't know what I was in for.

Don't get me wrong. I still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my newly adopted beach home. And I knew the "birds" would be flocking. I just wasn't prepared for the great number of elderly, pasty midwesterns taking over the roads, beaches and restaurants. I didn't plan for not being able to get a place to park at the beach, having to wait an hour for a table, or getting stopped by accidents on my way to work because a 95 year old still thinks it's a good idea to get behind the wheel.

I'm not complaining, really. I know I'm very lucky to live where I do and that most of you are freezing your hineys off today. Just making observations and giving you an idea of what it's like to live a year-round beachy life.

There are two seasons in FL.....summer and snowbird season! There are more people from Ohio in Florida right now than there are people left in Ohio!

Wow. It's that intense! Well, on the other hand it's understandable too. Live is easier when it's warm..., and we all seem to get older too (eventually & unfortunately). I loved the winter I spent once up in Blue Mountain Beach, just south of Destin. It was soooo quiet, empty beaches, and actually mostly warm and sunny too.

LOL...when my children lived in Fl. they called those 95 year old drivers Qtips. Driving behind these people all you see is the top of their white heads. Hence, Qtips

Welcome to almost ten years of my life. But hey - you're complaining about snowbirds, that means you're a real Floridian!

Here's my secretly hating you right now for being in paradise while I'm in NC in our coldest spell in like 20 years...

I feel for ya though! (only a little)

Oh boy do I understand! I hope your Midwesterners are a little friendlier than my NY/NJ snowbirds here in South Florida :) I just smile and say... Bless their hearts!
