Can't Catch a Break

It's been a tough year.

In 2008 we had a major job loss, a move because of it and a real hit to our savings. We've both taken huge pay cuts and have worked harder than ever to make it. We also had to deal with a multitude of complications with my mom's cancer including having the breast cancer move to the brain, emergency surgery from a ruptured ulcer when she almost died, and a broken hip.

After 7 months trying to make it in this economy, the Beachys have yet another job loss on our hands.

We just can't catch a break!

We didn't think living here in paradise would be so difficult, but our first year has been just that. Moving forward, our path is in God's hands. We will work and fight harder to make life here better and pray harder for the health of my mom. I know 2009 will be tough.

At least sunset at the beach is still free.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I moved from Hawaii to SRQ because of my husband's health condition to be close to his mom. Then my husband lost his job 5 days before Christmas 08'. 2008 was not a great year for us at all!!!

I hope 2009 will bring you much happiness, health and $$$ and be a better year than 2008!!!

I'm so sorry - I hope 2009 is much better for you. I feel your pain - the Surf Girl household couldn't catch one break in 2008 either. I was extremely happy to see the New Year.
I miss living in FL. The ocean does have a way of soothing your soul!
Keep your chin up and good luck to you. :)

Looking over the ocean always helps me to connect with a bigger sense of self (beyond all issues and pains), although I have not experienced such challenging circumstances. I do wish you and your family all the best!

Hang in there. We've had some major ups and downs too. Not fun. Stay in the present and focus on all you have!
