Mother's Day Ideas

Ok, my New Orleans girls: My mom is coming to visit Mother's Day weekend and she has never been here. I have some ideas of things I want to do with her including checking out the Garden District, French Quarter - Jackson Square, St. Charles Trolley, Oak Alley Plantation and City Park. For restaurants I'm thinking Ralph's, Palace Cafe, Mandina's, Cafe Adelaide, Emeril's, Jacques Imo's and Cafe Du Monde. These are very typical New Orleans-y type things and I'm wondering if you girls might have other ideas. She's only here Saturday and Sunday so I want to pick the best things to do. This is also her first real trip since going through chemo, a bilateral mastectomy and radiation for breast cancer. Ideas?

You should do the jazz brunch at Antoine's on Sunday!

Sounds great! Here's what I'm thinking- carriage ride through the Quarter followed by Sunday Jazz Brunch at Court of Two Sisters (fabulous), if your mom's interested in Mardi Gras, I've heard that the Mardi Gras tours are fun (http://www.mardigrasworld.com/).

Can't wait to read what you and your mom choose to do! How sweet of you!

I personally cannot go to New Orleans without stopping by The Camelia Grill for an omlette! Also, a riverboat ride is always fun!

The Gumbo Shop in the French Quareter is always really yummy! Your ideas and other suggestions sound great as well. Makes me miss New Orleans. I need to schedule a trip down there myself!

I was also going to mention Court of Two Sisters as it is just so beautiful there.

However, if she loves her some meat, one must must must have a Port O' Call burger. Is that just me? LOL

I love your blog, read it daily. If i had been through what your mom has been through, I think the important part of her visit is simply spending time with her daughter. Garden District sounds like it would be pretty and maybe a nice relaxing place to spend time. Emeril's would be interesting and nice to go home and talk about to friends. Whatever you choose will please your mom, I'm sure.
